ANNECY Enjoying an exceptional setting, the Savoyard town benefits from a good rating for the quality of its lifestyle. In spite of this, the price of bricks and mortar is high, even if the rise in the property market has calmed down since the start of the year.
A quality lifestyle which doesn't come cheap.
Nicknamed the 'Venice of the Alps', Annecy, with its lake and its historic centre, has always been a town with a reputation of being enjoyable to live in. A few kilometres from Grenoble and Geneva, it has a dynamic economy which sustains a real estate market in constant progression. Certainly, this commune is cheaper than the ski resorts in the surrounding mountains, but it is, along with Evian, one of the urban centres with the highest prices. [...]
Even if it is a narrow one, the luxury market is active. "From Veyrier du Lac to Talloires passing through Annecy le Vieux, architect designed houses and 'waterfront' properties win over a cross border population, the retired and several overseas clients", remarks estate agent Jean-Claude Clerc. For this type of property, transactions range from 900 000 to 1.5, or even 2 million euros.
